The Galaxy S9 leak looking lovely in lilac

The renders were tweeted by frequent mobile tipster Evan Blass, who later claimed that the full Galaxy S9 color lineup could include Midnight Black, Lilac Purple, Titanium Gray and Coral Blue. Black and gray are common colors for Samsung’s Galaxy phones, but we’ve seen coral blue before and it’s gorgeous. In many markets, Samsung’s coral blue phones tend to be released as special editions. gs9-invite Enlarge Image Check out that purple 9. Samsung While we’ve seen purple Galaxy phones in the past, the lilac purple shade is a new one, and may be special for the release of the Galaxy S9. It’s worth noting that the official invite for the Galaxy S9 unveiling event on Feb. 25 included the number 9 in a shade of purple. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not.

Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus review

So, no more Redmi Notes eh? The Redmi 5 Plus should clearly have been the Note 5, a successor of the Redmi Note 4, but Xiaomi wanted a fresh start. The fifth generation is trying to shake things up and the new look obviously called for a new name. So, Xiaomi retired the Note brand promoting the Plus from a mere qualifier to a proper name. The phablet lives on regardless, and goes all-in with a wide 6″ screen. Read more here:

Samsung’s dedicated AI chips to outclass Apple and Huawei in a few months

Apple and Huawei have already introduced AI-focused chipsets last year, the A11 Bionic and Kirin 970, respectively. Not one to allow itself to be left out of the latest trends in the mobile world, Samsung is reportedly working tirelessly on a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) of its own. For mobile devices, the company is said to have already reached “the technological levels of Apple and Huawei”, or so unnamed sources in Korea claim. Samsung will even “come up with better chips” (than Apple and Huawei) “for sure in the second half of the year”. The race is on, then.

The company only started developing its NPU in the second half of 2017, which is the reason for the delay compared to its competitors. With an NPU, a smartphone can process, analyze and store data without the need of a cloud server. Samsung is likely to showcase some of its NPU’s capabilities at MWC in Barcelona next month, though it’s unclear if that will be an open presentation or a ‘behind closed doors’ type of event. The first handset to come with Samsung’s NPU built-in will be the Galaxy Note9, which is apparently scheduled to launch in September. More here

Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ rumors

Galaxy S9+

We know, it’s rather hard to realize that the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ are already six months old – unleashed onto the world on April 21, 2017, these two still look as forward-thinking and futuristic as it gets. Yet, all kings and queens have to relinquish their thrones, which will happen to the Galaxy S8/S8+ in a few months’ time as well. The newcomers? Well, it doesn’t take a genius to know that the Galaxy S9 and S9+ are about to supersede Samsung’s current flagship stock, and given our general impression with Samsung’s current flagships, it’s definitely hard to NOT get excited about next year’s Galaxies.

Huawei announces the Nova 2s: Up to 6GB RAM, four cameras, aggressive pricing

Huawei announces the Nova 2s: Up to 6GB RAM, four cameras, aggressive pricing
The successor to last year’s not-at-all-that-shabby Huawei Nova is jumping straight into the bezel-less game by boasting a tall, 18:9 display with slim bezels on the sides that’s pretty up-to-date with the latest fads. Said display is an LCD one that clocks in at 6″ and has a resolution of 1080 by 2160 pixels. Interestingly, unlike the vast majority of bezel-busting devices with tall displays, the Nova 2s does have a physical home button at the front, similar to the Mate 10. It’s a rather narrow button, but nevertheless, it’s up there at the front catering to everyone that’s not yet ready to fully embrace software navigation buttons. The fingerprint scanner is embedded in the button, so no rear-positioned sensors of the type. Read all here:
