ETEN G500 Pocket PC Phone with GPS review

“ETEN has historically had trouble with the 850MHz cellular band here in the US. I’m not exactly certain why. The phone experience in their M500 was so bad, that I had to get rid of the device. I understand that the radio in the M600 is a bit better, but still has problems with the North American frequencies, again, specifically 850MHz. The G500 is no different, though I suspect its 850MHz experience is likely better in the G500 than it is in the M600, so we’re definitely moving in the right direction. You have to give at least that much to ETEN.” Read this review at pocketnow.com

RIM puts Yahoo in BlackBerry handsets

“Research in Motion has just announced that it will be offering Yahoo online services such as online search, instant messaging, e-mail and daily news on its BlackBerry handhelds. The service will be rolled out to 160 carriers in 60 countries in the coming two weeks. Although terms of the collaboration have not been released, Yahoo Connected Life senior VP Marco Boerries called it ‘significant’. The move is seen as part of RIM’s efforts to push BlackBerry mainstream, positioning it to encompass everyday users. At the same, it of course expands its service to existing clientele. As RIM co-CEO Jim Balsillie put it “Our job is to create a rich user experience for our community so that they want to use Yahoo on it, and hopefully we create such a rich experience for the Yahoo community that they want to buy a BlackBerry and run Yahoo on it.”So how do you get Yahoo online services on your BlackBerry? Current patrons will have to use a bookmark on their handsets to install the required application. New BlackBerry users will most likely have the Yahoo services pre-installed.As for Yahoo, this development enables it to extend its services beyond the confines the desktop to the mobile market. Its Yahoo Go service, however, will also be provided later 2006.” via mobilemag.com

Best Tarot Pro for Palm OS just updated to v3.2

“By the Tarot reading a person may be able to find answers about his/her hopes and wishes. There are many ways of tarot readings. This program uses ‘The Celtic Cross spread’. The Celtic Cross is probably the oldest and most popular pattern for reading the tarot. It has survived so long because the layout of the cards is simple, but powerful. It uses 78 cards. 22 Major and 56 Lesser Arcana cards of the Rider -Waite Tarot deck.– HOW IT IS DONE –1) First you choose which ‘card explanation’ way you prefer. ‘Simple’ or ‘Advanced’.2) Then if you don’t have one profile created, you should make one.If you already have one, just choose it and click on ‘Start’ button.3) Now think about a question that you expect an ‘Answer’ from the Tarot Cards.4) Then 10 cards will be shown to you. One by one. First you see ‘what the next card will be about’ and then the card itself.5) Last, you will see the conclusion report of your card reading. Whether it was good or bad!”— 06/Apr/2006 Update to v3.2 —* Redraw issue fixed when receiving call in Treo 650/600. Check it here:

Origami or a paper tiger from Microsoft?

“So what in reality Origami is all about? It will become more clear if we go back to history once again. The idea of placing fully-functional Windows OS into size of pocket PC has been living in minds of developers for quite a while. Let’s remember the announced but never to be released FlipStart Vulcan , released long time ago and available at retail sale models OQO and Sony U50/U70. Let’s highlight that ANY of these devices is smaller than all Origami devices. Later on (about a year ago) Intel had the idea of portable PC realized in Ultra Mobile PC project. From the moment first attempts to port Windows XP into small sized device it became clear that the interface needs improvement, since it was lacking the comfort of Windows Mobile, as much as it was overcoming this OS in functional terms. OQO was missing chance to affect Microsoft, and so was Sony. But everything changed when an influential player entered the game (Intel), they were able to explain to their long-time partner that simple version of Windows XP as well as Tablet PC edition have to be improved. This is where Touch Pack upgrade came from.” Read this great article here:
