“After several delays, Huawei’s latest flagship Android smartphone – the Ascend D Quad – is now finally ready to hit the market. The company has officially announced that the Ascend D Quad would become available staring late August (in both black and white), first in China.
The specs of the new Ascend have remained unchanged from those presented back in February at MWC 2012: 4.5 inch IPS HD display, 1.2GHz quad-core Huawei K3V2 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8MP BSI rear camera, 8GB of on-board memory, and MicroSD card support. For the beginning, the handset will run Android 4.0 ICS.
Alongside the Ascend D Quad, Huawei will also start selling the Ascend D Quad XL. This is a similar smartphone, but it packs a larger battery (2,600 mAh), hence being a bit thicker.
CNMO notes that Huawei has still not decided on the prices of the Ascend D Quad and D Quad XL. But we’ll update you on this as soon as details arrive.
Meanwhile, another Chinese company (Xiaomi) announced its own quad-core Android smartphone. But this will only be out in October, so Huawei still has time to sell lots of Ascend D Quad units.” via unwiredview.com
