O2 Xda cosmo Windows Mobile Smartphone aka HTC Excalibur

“Do you have enough from fuzzy and blurry HTC Excalibur photos? Me too and thanks to O2 Germany, today I’ve received its latest Windows Mobile Smartphone – maybe the next Windows Mobile superstar – the O2 Xda cosmo, most of you might still know as HTC Excalibur. So what’s all the cosmo/Excalibur buzz about? Well, the HTC Excalibur is HTC’s first BlackBerry look alike Windows Mobile Smartphone with a thumb QWERTZ keyboard. While it reminds on the first sight on a Pocket PC Phone Edition with landscape screen, the screen isn’t a touch screen at all since the cosmo is powered by Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 5.0 for Smartphone. Other features are quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE, W-LAN and Bluetooth, a 2 1.3 megapixel camera, the thumb keyboard and the new jog strip which replaces the traditional jog wheel, BlackBerry and HTC Hermes users might know. Since I’ve got the Xda cosmo just today – I hadn’t have too much time to play with the device yet but I will do during the week to upload my (p)review as soon as possible.” Check out some photos at theunwired.net

Acer e310 GPS: compact, touchscreen, musical

“IFA 2006 Germany may not elicit the same kind of response as CEBIT or CES around these parts, but they’re saying that it is the “world’s largest Consumer Electronics trade fair”, and as such, there should be plenty of goodies kicking around. While most people would probably turn to the likes of Garmin (or similar companies) for their portable GPS needs, Acer doesn’t want to be left out the picture, unveiling the Windows-powered e310 handheld at IFA.Running on Windows CE. NET 5.0 software, this all-business unit comes with a large 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen display, a Samsung S3C2442XL (300MHz) processor, and an integrated SiRFStar III chipset. Not too shabby. The e310 is just a smidget bigger than a pack of cigarettes, making it one of the most portable GPS devices out there. Rounding out the features are 64MBs each of RAM and flash ROM, an MP3 player, photo viewer, and USB 2.0 connectivity. Battery life is rated at 4 hours of GPS navigation or 8 hours of “normal use”. No pricing information was made available.” via mobilemag.com
